During your first appointment, you will be welcomed to a calm and private room to meet with your RMT. You will have the chance to discuss the reason for your visit, as well as any relevant health information. Your RMT may suggest an assessment involving movements and tests if deemed useful to your treatment plan. The initial appointment may involve a 5-15 minute assessment, depending on your case. This step is crucial for creating a treatment plan that will deliver results you're satisfied with, while also ensuring your safety. Any concerns and questions will be answers prior to the massage.
During subsequent appointments, your RMT will ask how you felt during the days following your previous massage. It is possible you enjoyed some techniques, and found some were not for you, and that's ok! The goal is to tailor each session to your individual needs and preferences. The feedback you provide will help your RMT adjust the treatment, ensuring that each session brings you closer to achieving your wellness goals.
All massage therapy treatments are personalized, but there are a few key elements that make perinatal massages a little different.
- Safety : Special side-lying pillow placements will allow for maximum comfort and safety for the mother and baby, through all trimesters!
- Changes : Throughout the trimesters and after birth, your body will change fast and your day to day life will change, too. Massage therapy can be a great addition to your healthcare team.
